Inside Out
Touchstones, Rochdale, 2001/2002
Shortly
after my Degree Show exhibition, Rochdale Museum and Art Gallery commissioned
me to create a piece of work which would draw attention to their building,
and the museum and gallery collections. The building has been closed
for some time, for refurbishment and, in the build-up to the re-opening
they wanted to let people know what is going to be happening. I decided
to look at the museum and gallery collections, selecting items I liked
and making illustrative representations of them. These images were projected
onto the front of the building at the beginning of March, as part of
a series of pre-opening events. In addition to the projections, I designed
posters which are currently being displayed in information points around
the town of Rochdale (shown in picture).
You can see a short clip of the projections featured in 'Inside Out' on March 6, 2002. This will give you a feel for the event where my images were projected on a large scale onto the front of the Touchstones building in Rochdale.
