Pumphouse Gallery, Battersea Park, London and other venues, March 29-May 19 2002, then touring
This is a group exhibition organised by Annabel Longbourne and Ben Sadler, from The Gallery, Stratford-upon-Avon, and includes work by Clive Caswell, Ben Cove, S Mark Gubb, Tony McCorry and Furio Torracchi. 'Borrowing styles and techniques associated with comic strips, instruction manuals and graphic design'.
I was asked to include my work in this exhibition after Annabel Longbourne attended the exhibition of my residency work in progress at The Glassbox Gallery in Salford University. I have developed my series of educational wallcharts to include: 'Anatomy of An Artist', 'An Ideal Artist' and 'A Woman's Work. I also created a new piece of work to be displayed in a lightbox, called 'Artistry Starts with You!'. These works are all exploring the nature of the artist as a person and the different roles they play in their everyday lives. This body of work has developed partly from my need to explain what I do when confronted with the statement: 'You're an artist? What, like painting?'
