Northern Graduates 2001

Curwen Gallery and New Academy, London, August 2001

The curators of this annual exhibition, Anna Cusden and David Alker, visited degree shows throughout the north of England and selected work to be shown at Curwen Gallery in London. I was asked to show my piece 'Direction of Art', a light box with a printed image depicting the 'private view' environment and a series of line drawings on tracing paper giving instruction in various actions, such as peeling a banana. The exhibition featured a wide-ranging selection of work, of a very high standard, including painting, photography, video and installation. It is interesting that two of the other artists selected, Priya Braganza and Jo Rourke, were also from Interactive Arts.
