(Im)Positioned
Vain Live Art, Oxford, 13 June 2002
Vain Live Art was an exciting event, with many performances taking place in the centre of Oxford throughout the day, with this following through to the evening, and more performances at Freud on Street.
I decided to be an '(Im)Positioner' again, a piece that I originally developed for the Sho1/Flux launch event in October 2001. It was interesting to see how the piece changed in this new space, with different responses and challenges presenting themselves. The space was very busy, with lots of tables to negotiate and, with other performances happening at the same time, a different dynamic with which to interact. Something different that occurred here was that, when I started 'assessing' someone's stance, they might start walking off without realising what was happening. I spent a lot of time negotiating legs and tables to catch up with my assessees!
