'ChipChop'

Video Installation from 'Instructions for a Slap Up Dinner', Parkingspace Gallery, Liverpool,January 2001

For my first solo exhibition 'Instructions for a Slap up Dinner' at Parkingspace Gallery in Liverpool, I created a video showing how to eat your chips using chopsticks. This was shown as part of an installation including line drawings giving instruction in eating chips and making a chip-butty*. I ate the chips in real time and, by the end of the video the food had become quite cold, so this was a real test of will.

*A chip butty is a sandwich made of (usually) white bread filled with chips and topped with ketchup or brown sauce.
